New Character Posters for The Walking Dead Season 5
Entertainment Weekly got an exclusive look into the new season of The Walking Dead, and gave us character posters of Rick, Michonne, Glenn, Maggie, and, of course, fan favorite Daryl Dixon.
Star Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes, warned fans that the blood, guts, and misery would be amped up in this upcoming season. "We're really earning our rating this season," said Lincoln. "There are families that watch it together, but just so it's on the record, guys-it's a grown-up show this season."
Last year, there was controversy surrounding the show's TV-14 rating, as the president of the Parents Television Council asserted that The Walking Dead's "graphic and brutally intense violence" wasn't appropriate for 14-year-olds. These criticisms caused AMC to change the show's rating to TV-MA, which indicates that it is geared towards young adults age 17 or older.
Executive producer Robert Kirkman also revealed whether fans should expect a speedy resolution to the last season finale's cliffhanger, in which the series' main characters are all locked inside a train car: "By minute two or three of our season premiere, I think the vast majority of our questions have been answered, and five or six more have been presented, so you're very much going to be invested, well-informed, and ready for the ride that we're going to take you on."
Season 5 premieres on October 12.
