DC Preview: Metropolis Citizens Develop Superman's Abilities in Action Comics: Future's End #1

With the Man of Steel missing in action, ordinary citizens of Metropolis inherit his superpowers in the upcoming Action Comics: Future's End #1.

This will be the first Superman-centric issue of Future's End month. Future's End is a series that explores "potential futures," set five years into the future of the New 52 timeline. In this issue, Clark Kent is halfway around the world, performing altruistic acts as a civilian. Meanwhile, citizens of Metropolis begin to develop superpowers in his stead. One panel, in which a young girl is about to commit suicide when she gains the ability to fly, harkens back to one of the most widely cited Superman panels of all time, which one Reddit user credited with saving his life:
