Marvel Behemoths Fist Fight in Hulk vs Thanos

An upcoming Marvel limited series pits Hulk and Thanos, two characters who are huge in both fame and girth, against each other in an ultimate fist fight, judging from the cover.

The comic, which was originally meant to be a part of the Savage Hulk series before it underperformed in sales, begins with Pip the Troll abducting Hulk, in order to use him as leverage for something he wants from Marvel villain Annihilus, who originally appeared in Fantastic Four and may serve as the primary villain of the upcoming series. Other significant, more recognizable Marvel characters will make guest appearances, such as Iron Man and "certain other members of S.H.I.E.L.D." Although it has roots in Thanos Annual and the Infinity Revelation graphic novel, writer Jim Starlin insists that "the story is self-contained. A reader only has to know who the Hulk and Thanos are- which is just about anyone who knows the name Marvel these days."

Starlin reportedly based this version of Hulk on Mark Waid's Indestructible Hulk, with one exception: "The only thing I changed was giving him longer hair than that series had."
