'The Things We Love Most Destroy Us' in New Hunger Games: Mockingjay Trailer
After relentless teasing, the new trailer for the upcoming Hunger Games: Mockingjay Pt 1 is finally here:
This trailer mostly focuses on the relationship between Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence), who is asked to serve as an emblem of the revolution, and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), who is brainwashed into a "weapon" for the Capitol. He disseminates Capitol propaganda in unsettling all-white garb, as she insists that his safety will be a priority of the rebel forces as long as she submits to being their Mockingjay. It seems that a major theme in the film will be human attachment as an Achilles heel in a brutal, war-like situation; Katniss explicitly states that her love for her sister and Peeta have drawn her into a fight that she doesn't think belongs to her. It also gives us a glimpse into the action blockbuster elements, especially when Katniss shoots a plane down with her bow-and-arrow.
The trailer also features the late Philip Seymour Hoffman in his last role as Plutarch Heavensbee, Julianne Moore as President Coin, Woody Harrelson as Haymitch, Donald Sutherland as the Capitol's President Snow, Elizabeth Banks as Effie, Liam Hemsworth as Gale, Sam Claflin as Finnick, and Game of Thrones's Natalie Dormer as Cressida. The film will be released on November 21.
