SNL, Chris Pratt Say What We've All Been Thinking With Their 'Marvel Can't Fail' Skit
This weekend saw NBC's Saturday Night Live return for it's 40th anniversary with Guardians of the Galaxy star, Chris Pratt taking charge of hosting duties. Predictably, SNL writers took advantage of Pratt's role in Marvel's blockbuster of the year, Guardians of the Galaxy. However, nobody quite expected the manner in which they capitalized on the movie's success to be quite this brilliant.
Many fans and commentators have remarked that, if Marvel can turn a movie starring a talking raccoon and sentient tree into the biggest box-office hit of the year, the comic book giant simply cannot fail. And it is this notion that SNL writers picked up on with their delightfully on the nose portrayal of what the Marvel movies of the future may look like.
Yes, having made the brilliantly ludicrous seem...just plain brilliant, SNL predicts that Marvel studios will start churning out even more outlandish ideas for movies in the future. Everything about this skit is just perfect, not least the way they use the Blue Suede soundtrack, which after countless trailers and marketing is now synonymous with Guardians of the Galaxy.
We're pretty sure Marvel could market the heck out of 'Bus People', but Marvel's Star Wars featuring the Blue Suede soundtrack? Where do we sign up?! There's also Marvel's Bus People, Marvel's Fancy Ghosts, and the wildly popular Marvel's Pam and Marvel's Pam 2: The Winter Pam.
