New Gotham Season 1 Trailer Teases Rise of Arkham Asylum and Yet More Villains
The new Gotham trailer is a game of "Where's Waldo" for DC villains associated with the famed Arkham Asylum:
Only the first clip (as well as the iconic death of the Waynes) comes from the pilot, while the rest of the trailer depicts the fallout of Penguin's fake death in Gotham's intricate crime world. It also chronicles the rise of the sinister Arkham Asylum for the Criminally Insane, and all the corruption, social commentary, and- most importantly- villains that come along with it. The most prominently featured Arkham villain is Victor Zsasz, a sociopathic serial killer prone to "liberating" young women from the meaninglessness of life by slitting their throats. But if you look closely, you can see Professor Pyg, another Arkham Asylum inmate who wears a pig mask and is known in the comics for distributing an identity-destroying drug that crime bosses use to control prostitutes. There may have also been a glimpse of Scarecrow, but, like the Joker, they'll probably tease his appearance a little more after he was popularized in the films by Cillian Murphy.
The second episode, called "Selina Kyle," unsurprisingly explores young Catwoman's backstory. Here's the official synopsis: "Detectives Gordon and Bullock investigate a child trafficking ring preying on Gotham's street kids, including Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova). Meanwhile, Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) resurfaces in the countryside and begins to make his way back to Gotham, leaving victims in his wake." The episode airs tonight at 8 pm on Fox.
