Marvel Announces Age of Ultron vs Marvel Zombies Comic For Summer 2015
After almost breaking the internet with their tease of Civil War yesterday, Marvel has just announced another huge series in the shape of 'Avengers: Age of Ultron vs Marvel Zombies'! The new title will pit two of Marvel's popular fringe series directly against each other in what must surely be a dimension hopping coming together of two parallel Marvel universes.
There's more information about the creation of these two series below, but first of all, here's the teaser image for this beautifully bizarre crossover.
Started by Walking Dead creator, Robert Kirkman, Marvel Zombies first appeared in the 2005 Ultimate Fantastic Four #21 when Reed Richards is tricked into travelling to an alternate dimension that is infested with zombies. Richards eventually escapes the zombie-infested world - avoiding a zombie Fantastic Four in the process - but Marvel zombies have continued to pop up in a number of arcs as well as getting numerous spin-off series. The most memorable of all of these has to be Marvel Zombies vs Army of Darkness, in which Ash Williams finds himself mistakenly in the zombie territory.
The Age of Ultron series is a relatively new one. Started in 2013, the series doesn't have a direct link with Marvel's upcoming movie, but instead lives in an alternative future in which Ultron has succeeded in defeating Marvel's heroes and has taken over the planet. The series sees a broken collective of superheroes trying to reclaim an Earth that has been imprisoned by Ultron and his sentinels.
Quite how this crossover will work, we don't know. But one thing you can be sure of is swarms of robots battling swarms of zombies, which can only be a good thing...right?
