Emperor Palpatine's First Name Is Finally Revealed
Emperor Palpatine, also known as Darth Sidious, was one of the most powerful, if not the most powerful Sith in history. At his peak, he, with Darth Vader at his side, ruled most of the known Star Wars galaxy. Put simply, he is one of the most prominent figures in Star Wars lore, which makes it's kind of strange that we don't even know his first name. But as I learnt during Del Rey's Star Wars panel at last weekend's New York Comic Con, this gap in our collective Star Wars knowledge was going to be filled in by the upcoming Star Wars novel, Tarkin.
As can often be the case with these things, it turns out we don't have to wait until the November 4th release date of Tarkin to find out what Palpatine's first name is, because somebody over at Wookiepedia found out first. We always appreciate folks who want to find out these nuggets in a more organic fashion, so here is you spoiler warning. For those who need to find out now, we also have a warning for you. It's awful. Just really really awful.
Sheev. Palpatine's first name is Sheev. Now we know why this almighty Sith has failed to tell everyone his first name for so long. It sounds like a household cleaning product. Heck, it sounds like a kid wearing braces saying Steve!
Of course, we won't know if this is confirmed until Tarkin is released next month, and keep in mind anybody can go in and edit Wookipedia, but we're not really sure why somebody would make this up. What are your thoughts on good old Emperor Sheev? Do you think it's a name befitting of a man as powerful as Darth Sidious?
