Matthew McConaughey Has No Time for Apollo Deniers in New Clip from Interstellar
Matthew McConaughey has no patience for people who believe that man never stepped on the moon in this new clip from Interstellar.
Along with providing us insight into McConaughey's character, including the circumstances surrounding his wife's death, it also does a great deal of world-building for a 20-second clip. We known from various statements from Christopher Nolan that the film is partially meant to emphasize the importance of space travel, so it makes sense that this society is portrayed as disillusioned with space travel, but it also seems to have turned against technology in general. It's possible that technology and industry are responsible for ruining the environment and the subsequent famine, but Nolan (through McConaughey) is making the point that technology has also done immeasurable good for humanity.
Interstellar also stars Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Casey Affleck, Michael Caine, John Lithgow, and Mackenzie Foy (as well as a shockingly hush-hush cameo from Matt Damon). It comes out on film on November 5 and everywhere on November 7.
