The Batman: Endgame arc, which celebrates the 75th anniversary of Batman and the Joker, sees the Dark Knight facing all the members of the Justice League, who are being manipulated by the real villain of the piece, (who else?) the Joker. As explored in the "Death of the Family" storyline, the Joker once found meaning in his dynamic with Batman, but now feels that this dynamic has been betrayed. The arc will reportedly shake up the status quo in order to open up new storylines for writer Scott Synder and artist Greg Capullo to explore.

Snyder said of the Joker's motivations: "So this is really sort of the Joker saying, 'I once found meaning in our relationship and your relationship to your rogues. Now I think you've betrayed that, and it's time for me to just burn everything down.'"

While details of their confrontation have not been released, DC Comics has released this cover by Capullo and a variant cover by Andy Kubert. The artwork for both is remarkable, and the former may indicate the continued importance of the Scarecrow's fear attack. The cover also features the Joker's new physical appearance after he carved off his own face in Death in the Family.

This variant cover by Kubert is part of a series of six covers, all of which will follow the theme, "Joker's Greatest Hits."
