Marvel's Ant-Man #1 Has First Ever Shrinking Variant Cover

The new Ant-Man series is coming out soon, and to commemorate this event, artist Ed McGuinness is creating a novel type of variant cover: one that's different for every single person who buys it. Every single edition of the new "shrinking" variant cover is individually drawn and numbered, and each features Scott Lang/Ant-Man as a different size.

Just one example of this variant cover:

"This is completely unlike any cover we've ever attempted," said David Gabriel, Marvel's senior vice president of sales and marketing. "We've even had to utilize new technologies to make it happen. Each variant is completely unique. Each and every cover will feature a different sized Ant-Man. No two are identical!"

Marvel also released this cutely self-deprecating synopsis for the new Ant-Man comic: "Scott Lang is ready to turn it all around in this brand new ongoing series. Sure he's never been the world's greatest super hero. Most people don't even think he's been the best Ant-Man – and the last guy created Ultron and joined the Masters of Evil, so that's really saying something. But that's all about to change. New city. New outlook. New Scott."

Ant-Man #1 comes out in January.
