Matt Smith to Star Alongside Natalie Dormer in Patient Zero
Great news, Doctor Who fans! Matt Smith, also known as Eleven, will trade in Daleks for zombies in the upcoming pandemic thriller Patient Zero along with Game of Thrones and Hunger Games: Mockingjay star Natalie Dormer.
The official synopsis for the film reads: "In Patient Zero, an unprecedented global pandemic of a super strain of rabies has resulted in the evolution of a new species driven by violence. An inexplicably immune human survivor with the ability to communicate with this new species must spearhead a hunt for Patient Zero in order to find a cure to save his infected wife and humanity." There's no official word on either of their roles, but we can speculate that Smith will be playing the immune survivor, and hope against hope that Dormer gets more to do than playing "the wife."
Smith is known for playing the eleventh Doctor on Doctor Who. He was replaced by Peter Capaldi after departing the show in last year's Christmas special. He was the youngest actor to ever be cast as the Doctor, and was also the first actor playing the Time Lord to be nominated for a BAFTA for Best Actor for his performance. He has mostly been sticking to sci-fi fare post-Doctor, with upcoming appearances in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and Terminator: Genisys.
