New Motion Poster for Terminator: Genisys Two Days Ahead of First Trailer
Following the new trend recently used by The Divergent Series: Insurgent, Terminator: Genisys has released a new motion poster to tantalize fans before the release of the first full trailer on Thursday.
The sand effect is well-done, and seems to be in line with what we know about the movie. It could represent the Terminator being different from previous iterations, as they're bringing Arnold Schwarzenegger back to play an older, more grizzled kind of cybernetic organism, or it could be imitative of a sand timer, in which case it would represent the new timeline continuity in the reboot. In this version of the mythology, Sarah Connor was raised by a Terminator, played by Arnold himself.
Many have complained that the promotional shots of the cast are underwhelming, and we'll join the chorus in saying the title Terminator: Genisys sounds/looks idiotic. But the plot summary, while understandably upsetting to hardcore fans of the original franchise, does sound interesting. When reboots try to stick too close to the original material, they have no reason to exist. So check back with us on Thursday, as the first footage will likely determine for the near future whether we're excited for this film or not.
There's also an official countdown to the first trailer, which seems a little much, but here I am writing about it, so I guess it's an effective way to promote the movie.
Terminator: Genisys comes out on July 1, 2015.
