The Walking Dead Spin-Off Series Casts Its Male Lead
The Walking Dead companion series has cast several roles, including baby Voldemort as a drug-addled teen, but before today, neither the male nor the female lead had been cast. Now, Sunshine and Gang Related's Cliff Curtis has been cast as the Rick Grimes counterpart
Curtis will play Sean Cabrera, a divorced teacher, described as "a good man trying to do right by everyone in his life," with a young son who is described as "whip-smart and rebellious." We can only hope he will be less boring than Rick was in the early seasons, and that his son is less annoying than Coral.

Actors are still testing for the female lead, Nancy Tompkins. Fringe's Anna Torv was reportedly one of the actors tapped to audition, but is no longer in contention.
The Walking Dead spin-off will take place in the same zombie apocalypse as its parent show, but will explore the effects in a different part of the world. It currently has a pilot order, but is predicted to be virtually guaranteed a series order, considering the success of the original.
