Watch: First Trailer for The Lazarus Effect Featuring Olivia Wilde
The first trailer for the Flatliners-esque sci-fi horror film The Lazarus Effect is out, and it's satisfyingly unsettling:
The premise of resurrection is a familiar one, but the trailer looks promising. The cast is talented all around, the filmmakers (who also brought us The Purge, Insidious, and Paranormal Activity) seem to have a keen sense of dread, and the visual style is already way above average for a horror flick, particularly the shot of Olivia Wilde coming back to life and sitting up while covered in a sheet.
The official synopsis reads: "A team of medical students have found a way to bring dead patients back to life. When Zoe (Olivia Wilde) dies, they attempt to duplicate the procedure that was done on animals on to her, and succeed. But is it really Zoe that has come back? Or something else? Something evil." The synopsis itself is cheesy, but the trailer and the recent quotes from the director make it seem like the movie has potential.
The first official poster has also been released:
