Awesome Official Artwork For Star Wars Celebration 2015 Released Online
It's safe to say that this year is a pretty huge one for Star Wars fans. The Star Wars comics have made their triumphant return to Marvel, Star Wars Rebels will continue its exploration of the 30 years that unfolded between the two trilogies, oh and on December 18th, Star Wars: The Force Awakens will become the biggest movie event of the century. With all this buzz around our favorite Galaxy far far away, it's quite apt that Star Wars Celebration, the biggest Star Wars themed party of all time, will also be held this year just across the road from Disneyland at the Anaheim Convention Center. Star Wars Celebration will see thousands of Star Wars fans descend upon California for 4 days of Star Wars cosplays, panels and collectibles swapping. But if that's not enough to get your geek juices flowing, StarWars.com has just debuted the event's official artwork, which is beautifully designed by Craig Drake.
Here's Drake's official poster artwork for Star Wars Celebration 2015:
Drake revealed in an interview with StarWars.com that he wanted to incorporate as many of the different colors associated with each individual entry into the Star Wars saga. "I have color associations with the first few films," said Drake. "For example, Empire Strikes Back, to me, is straight up orange and blue. Jedi is totally green. In that sense, I didn't want to necessarily lean this toward Episode IV and V. I definitely did with the character selection, but I think my color association, with the use of the green there [in the poster above], is where I balanced it."
To strike that balance, Drake has also issued a number of different iterations of his artwork, including that menacing red number you see at the top of the page.
Finally, here's a Star Wars Rebels variant:
Drake's artwork was so well received that he was commissioned to design the badge artwork for the event. You can see that and some more of his work over at StarWars.com.
Star Wars Celebration will be held between the 16th and 19th April at Anaheim's Convention Center in Southern California....and Yes, there are still tickets available for purchase!
