Screenshots From The Fantastic Four Trailer Reveal Easter Eggs and The Negative Zone
The Negative Zone, or N-Zone could be coming to the big screen, that's if the official description and screenshots from the first trailer for The Fantastic Four are being interpreted correctly. Before we get into this, check out the official description below:
"FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel's original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy."
When it comes to the Fantastic Four and alternate universes, the first thing that comes to mind simply must be the Negative Zone. In comic book canon, the Negative Zone is another dimension in which all matter is negatively charged. Though almost completely devoid of life, the Negative Zone does play host to one of Marvel's more interesting villains, Annihilus. Now, there's no sign of Annihilus in this trailer, but it could be that Fox and Trank are setting this franchise up for a meeting with the Lord of the Negative Zone in a future movie. Certainly, some of these screenshots look like they could quite easily be a big screen depiction of the Negative Zone...
We were promised an easter egg in this trailer, and it looks to come in the form of a very subtle I.P address (in the red writing, bottom left) as seen in the image below:
The I.P reads 18.104.22.168., which when entered into your browser reveals information on a well known fictional nation.
Also, we noticed that it's not just the Fantastic Four who are travelling to the Negative Zone. There' actually 6 astronauts in total, which means the bonus travellers are likely Doom and Harvey Elder, aka Mole Man.
Here's a shot of Johnny seemingly having a battle with Sue, but it's more likely an accidental 'flame on' than a real brother/sister squabble.
Finally, here's a look at the first official poster for the movie.
The Fantastic Four hits theaters August 7th.
