Amazing Trailer Mash-Up Shows that Fantastic Four Is a Remake of Interstellar
Yesterday, when the first Fantastic Four trailer finally came out, we wrote that it "features the dark, emotive voice-over that appears to be so on-trend right now." Now, the internet has seen fit to mash-up the blue-tinged, sci-fi-heavy trailer with the king of melodramatic voiceover: Interstellar.
In this hilarious mash-up, the similarities between this trailer and the first Interstellar teaser are highlighted, and they really are uncanny. Both of the trailers can be seen below, in which Matthew McConaughey says in his deep, resonating, down-home Southern voice, "We've always defined ourselves by the ability to overcome the impossible" and then a nameless deep-voiced narrator says, "Human beings have an immeasurable desire to discover," minus the Southern charm.
Twitter was, of course, quick to notice these similarities:
#FantasticFour looks good, but after Interstellar I'm not trusting a single film that has a cornfield in the trailer— Musa Okwonga (@Okwonga) January 27, 2015
@jag24fps We weren't meant to discover the fantastic. We were meant to BECOME it.— Alexander Huls (@alxhuls) January 27, 2015
These comparisons are funny, and I'm nothing if not an Interstellar detractor, but this almost makes me more excited for the movie. Josh Trank's hard sci-fi take on a superhero origin story sounds more intriguing than almost any of the other relatively cookie-cutter, shamelessly franchise-building superhero movies coming out in the near future. Getting back to basics sounds like just what the genre needs.
Fantastic Four hits theaters on August 7.
