David Duchovny Wants to Return to Twin Peaks as Agent Denise Bryson
We're still in our happy place after the news that David Duchovny is confirmed for the X-Files reboot (as well as Gillian Anderson!), but we might have even more happy news coming, as the actor may be reprising his role on another cult sci-fi reboot, Twin Peaks.
In an interview with LA Times, when asked if a Twin Peaks reboot is really happening, Duchovny said, "Seems like it. I would bet on it if I were you. I think 'Twin Peaks' is happening for sure. I hope my character comes back, I think she does."
Those who watched Twin Peaks during its original run will remember Duchovny as Agent Denise Bryson, a DEA agent who appeared in the second season. The character was well-received, so as long as she is treated with respect and her transgender status isn't played for laughs, this is good news all around. (There is a question of whether a trans woman should be playing the character, but that's sort of grandfathered in from the early 90's show.)
The Twin Peaks reboot is expected to air sometime in 2016.
