Hayden Christensen to Star in Nazi Zombie Thriller 'Untot'
Has it been long enough that sci-fi fans will accept Hayden Christensen on their screens again? The Star Wars prequels actor has been cast in the lead role in the upcoming World War II-era zombie thriller (slash Dead Snow rip-off?) Untot.
Untot (which means "undead" in German) follows a Lieutenant heading an elite military unit (Christensen) near the end of World War II. The unit goes behind enemy lines in order to destroy a Nazi weapons facility, but get more than they bargained for when they encounter the undead. It really just sounds like Dead Snow- probably minus the laughs.
The premise doesn't sound like anything to write home about, and Christensen's casting is obviously a mixed bag for genre fans. But to be fair, before he was atrociously miscast in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, he was actually a decent actor. He was in several prestige indies before signing onto Attack of the Clones, most notably Life as a House, for which he was nominated for SAG and Golden Globe awards, and was generally considered to be a promising up-and-comer. He mostly disappeared after the Star Wars debacle, so it'll be interesting to see him get back into the spotlight and try to prove that it was just a fluke.
Untot is scheduled to begin shooting in March 2015 in New York City.
