Will Forte to Answer Fan Calls to His Character on Last Man on Earth
Will Forte is creating, writing, and starring in the upcoming post-apocalyptic sitcom The Last Man on Earth, and now he will also take calls from fans. In order to promote the comedy, Fox is doing a guerrilla marketing campaign in which it distributes 12,000 flyers all over major U.S. cities with a phone number to a cell phone in Forte's possession.
The flyers are now being posted on community boards and college campuses in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, Miami, Philadelphia, Boston, Seattle, and San Francisco. But if you don't live in any of those cities, or if you can't see the number on the flyer, it's 520-428-1174. While most of the calls from fans will go directly to voicemail, a few will be answered by Forte himself as his character, Phil Miller.
The voicemail message can be heard below:
I don't know about you, but as a woman, I really doubt I would find him after hearing that message.
According to the official synopsis, the show follows "Phil Miller, the last human on Earth in the year 2022, who searches the entire United States for any signs of other living humans after an unknown event wipes out the entire population of Earth, including his family and the employees at the bank where he worked." It's unclear whether he's actually the last man on Earth, especially since several actors including January Jones and Kristen Schaal have been cast as well. But the rest of the cast is all women so far, so it's possible that either they'll only be seen in flashbacks or Forte's character is indeed the last "man" on Earth.
The Last Man on Earth premieres on March 1 on Fox.
