BitTorrent to Release First Original Show 'Children of the Machine' This Year
Peer-to-peer file sharing firm BitTorrent is jumping on the original series bandwagon with Children of the Machine, a sci-fi show to be released later this year. It will be the first series BitTorrent has produced, and will be part of an initiative to distribute original video content via the BitTorrent Bundle platform, to be called BitTorrent Originals.
We don't have too much information about the plot of the series yet, but we know that it follows young adults in a futuristic society in which androids have taken over the world. There might be whispers of a sci-fi coming-of-age story, but we don't know enough about the character elements of the show to say that for certain. The first season will consist of eight hourlong episodes, and BitTorrent will be producing the show with Rapid Eye Studios, along with Marco Weber (Igby Goes Down) and Jeff Stockwell (Bridge to Terabithia).
"We were hooked on Children of the Machine after reading the first script," said BitTorrent content chief Matt Mason. "Marco's vision for how far we can take original content adds a massive amount of value to the already burgeoning self-service Bundle platform, and that vision is now becoming a reality that will change the entire business."
Children of the Machine will start shooting in the spring and will be released in late 2015.
