J.J Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy To Kick-Off Star Wars Celebration Anaheim
Star Wars Celebration Anaheim is just around the corner and the 4-day event dedicated to all things Star Wars is shaping up to be bigger than anyone expected. The Celebration team today announced that Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J Abrams and LucasFilm President Kathleen Kennedy will kick-off the April event.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens Writer/Director/Producer J.J. Abrams, and Producer Kathleen Kennedy will make a special appearance at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim this April," reads the announcement."Abrams and Kennedy are scheduled to kick off the show in a big way on Thursday morning, April 16 at 10:00 am"
Now, maybe I'm just excited to be attending, but those four words "in a big way" have me thinking that Disney and LucasFilm have something special planned here. Indeed, the presence of Abrams and Kennedy instantly elevates this to a major, major Star Wars event but the fact that it's being held just 8 months before The Force Awakens means there's a strong possibility that the fans in attendance could be treated to some big news related to the movie. Avengers: Age of Ultron, which everyone believes will host the Star Wars: Force Awakens trailer premiere, is released in certain markets just a matter of days after Star Wars Celebration, so would it be out of the realms of reality for Disney to give their fans an early look at it? Just let me dream will you.
Abrams and Kennedy aren't the only big names in attendance that weekend, either. A whole host of guests spanning all corners of the franchise have already been announced and with 2 months still left before it all kicks off, don't be surprised if more names are released.
Here are some of the Star Wars Celebration guest highlights that have been announced so far.
- Carrie Fisher
