'I'll Be Back': Arnold Schwarzenegger Returning for a Terminator: Genisys Sequel
Arnold Schwarzenegger claims that he will return for at least the first sequel to the upcoming reboot of his most famous franchise, Terminator: Genisys. That's- optimistic?
In an interview with The Arnold Fans, Schwarzenegger is already set to star in the sixth Terminator film. When asked if he would be filming for the sequel, he replied, "Yes, of course, next year." We would label this a spoiler, but the current Terminator model could easily still die in Terminator: Genisys, only to come back as another model in the sixth film. Plus, the timeline has gotten so wonky, almost anything can happen and people would barely bat an eye.
Although two sequels have officially been announced for Paramount's new Terminator trilogy, this still seems a little premature. Terminator: Genisys doesn't come out for another four months, and although rebooting classic franchises is usually a safe bet, fans have so many trepidations about the casting and the new timeline, I'm not sure it's guaranteed to be a slam-dunk at the box office considering its budget. And although the sequels have planned release dates for 2017 and 2018, there's been no word on any official development. Do these statements from Schwarzenegger indicate that development has, in fact, already begun in a significant way?
Terminator: Genisys comes out on July 1.
