Supergirl Series Casting Superman - Sort Of
The Man of Steel is coming to CBS's Supergirl series - sort of. A casting call for a "photo double" reveals that Superman will be on the show, but in a presumably limited capacity.
The casting call, which appears on Project Casting, is for a photo double on the Supergirl series which states, "We are looking for BODY DOUBLE for a DC Comic Superhero... You should be 5'11 or taller and be Square Jawed and have a ripped physique."
This strongly implies that it's Superman, but it's the end of the posting that clinches it: "You must send a bodyshot, shirtless, sizes, current contact info and your first five... [and] in the subject line write SUPERMAN." If they were going to say that, you wonder why they were so coy with the "DC Comic Superhero" nonsense.
Since it's just a body double rather than an acting role, we can assume that we'll only get a brief glimpse of Superman, at least for now. He will likely be seen in the background, maybe in news footage, or even a photograph. And it makes sense that they wouldn't want to bring Superman into the show so quickly, since they need to establish that this is a show about Kara, not Clark Kent. But if I had to guess, I think they'll probably bring in the Man of Steel as an actual character at some point, especially since the series doesn't seem to be part of the shared DC Cinematic Universe.
Supergirl is slated to begin on CBS this fall.
