The Blob Remake May Not Feature an Actual Blob - Will Be More 'Alien Meets Predator'
Um, what? In a recent interview with Screen Relish, Simon West, helmer of the upcoming Blob remake, implied that the creature will resemble a xenomorph more than an actual blob:
"It's going to be much more sci-fi than the original. It's a bigger scale type of movie. It's more Alien meets Predator and designing the creature is a long and involved process cause its very sophisticated. It's not going to be the goo pouring through windows."
I'm so confused. Isn't the entire point of The Blob that it's not an Alien or Predator-type creature? It's supposed to be gelatinous goo whose entire scare factor stems from the fact that it can squeeze through small spaces- like cracked windows- and smother and/or devour you. It's possible that this is a misleading quote and West simply misspoke, but this bodes badly, or at least weirdly.
The Blob remake starts filming in August, with Richard Saperstein and Brian Witten set to produce.
