New Ex Machina Trailer Shows Off the Film's Glowing Reviews
< >
For those of you who have been following this movie as religiously as we have, the new trailer for Ex Machina might not have that much new footage for you, but it will definitely impress you with its juxtaposition of the sleek footage and the almost unanimous praise:

"Skin-bristlingly intense. This is bewitchingly smart science fiction." - The Telegraph

"A 'Frankenstein' for the search-engine generation." - NME

"[Director] Alex Garland upgrades to full auteur status." - The Guardian

"Intelligent, gorgeous... Essential viewing." - Total Film

"A mind-bending thriller." -

"Three incredible performances." - Esquire

"An instant classic." - The Daily Mirror

"A triumph." - The Playlist

And finally, four-star ratings from none other than The Observer, The Sunday Times, The Sun, The Financial Times, Metro, and The Independent. You think maybe we're excited for this movie or something?

As I said, there wasn't that much new footage in the trailer itself, which is fine with me, as I want to be able to enjoy the movie without being too spoiled. As far as I could tell, the only significant sound bite that we hadn't yet heard was Ava's eerie: "How strange to have made something that hates you." If nothing else, that makes the shot near the end in which she's running towards a very frightened Oscar Isaac even more foreboding.

This trailer also saw Isaac's character explicitly admit that Gleeson's character is the "test," rather than Ava, as was implied in the last trailer. I'm still not exactly sure how that would work, but I'm fairly psyched to find out.

Ex Machina comes out in theaters on April 10.
