Jennifer Lawrence to Depart X-Men Franchise After Apocalypse
Will Mystique meet an untimely end in X-Men: Apocalypse? Jennifer Lawrence recently stated that she will not continue with the X-Men franchise after her upcoming appearance in Apocalypse.

In the above interview with MTV News, when asked if Apocalypse would be her last X-Men movie, she replied, "It is my last one, actually." Her original contract was for three X-Men movies: First Class, Days of Future Past, and now Apocalypse. So rather than "quitting" the franchise, it looks like she simply won't renew her contract.

After huge time commitments to both X-Men and Hunger Games, it makes sense that the in-demand actress would want to focus on other roles. But this means that other actors from First Class, such as Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, and Nicholas Hoult will also be faced with the decision of whether to renew their contracts after Apocalypse. Their careers are all on the rise as well, so there's a good chance that some or all of them will take their cue from Lawrence and allow their contracts to expire.

20th Century Fox may be prepared for this possibility, as they recently lined up some impressive up-and-coming talent to play Storm, Cyclops, and Jean Grey, but it would still be a shame so many talented and established actors.

X-Men: Apocalypse starts filming this spring, and is set to come out in theaters on May 27, 2016.
