Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk's Con Man Gets a Full Cast of Geek Heroes
Well, I guess we know who's going to Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk's "con" now. Terminator and X-Files star Robert Patrick, Battlestar alums Tricia Helfer and Michael Trucco, Supernatural's Samantha Smith and The Walking Dead's Emily Kinney are all set to join the cast of the Firefly stars' web series, Con Man.
After these additions, the series has a full roster of geek icons, as the actors join Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, Firefly's Sean Maher, Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Seth Green, Firefly and Angel's Gina Torres, Dollhouse and Angel's Amy Acker, and nerd actress/gamer Felicia Day.
Con Man is a passion project by Tudyk and Fillion that seems to both satirize and celebrate geek culture. Tudyk plays the protagonist, Wray Nerely, an actor from a cancelled-too-soon space opera called Spectrum who bitterly tours the convention circuit. His friend and former co-star, Jack Moore (Fillion), has gone on to become a major movie star and enjoys the high life in Hollywood. Comic Con hijinks ensue.
Tudyk will write, direct, and star, while Fillion will produce and star. The actors recently launched a crowdfunding campaign to finance the series, which predictably reached its goal within a few short hours.
Here's the first teaser for the web series:
Filming of Con Man, featuring all your nerdy favorites, begins in June.
