Netflix Orders 80's Supernatural Government Conspiracy Series 'Montauk'
Netflix has just ordered the original series Montauk, a genre-bender that combines coming-of-age story with conspiracy thriller and supernatural drama.

According to the official description, the series is "set in 1980 Montauk, Long Island, a young boy vanishes into thin air. As friends, family, and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces, and one very strange little girl. Montauk is a love letter to the 80s classics that captivated a generation."

The series comes from filmmaking duo Matt and Ross Duffer, twin brothers who recently made their first feature film straight out of college, a horror film called Hidden that stars Alexander Skarsgard and is set to come out sometime this year. They will both direct, write, and produce the series.

"Matt and Ross are emerging filmmakers with an unmistakable passion for genre and suspense," said Cindy Holland, Netflix's vice president of original content. "Their unique voice infuses this coming-of-age drama with supernatural thrills that will captivate our global audience."

The first season of Montauk will consist of eight hourlong episodes, set to stream on Netflix sometime in 2016.
