Martin Freeman Cast in Mystery Role for Captain America: Civil War
The Hobbit and Sherlock star Martin Freeman will soon be able to add another credit to his geeky resume, as he has just been cast in an undisclosed role in Captain America: Civil War.

"From his roles as Bilbo Baggins and Doctor Watson to Tim in 'The Office,' Martin's range from the dramatic to the comedic has consistently impressed us," said Marvel's Kevin Feige in a statement. "We couldn't be more honored or excited to have such a talented actor join the Marvel Cinematic Universe."

In the geek sphere, Freeman is known for playing Dr. John Watson on Sherlock, Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit trilogy, and Arthur Dent in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. He's also known for playing Tim Canterbury in the UK version of The Office, as well as for his acclaimed turn in FX's Fargo, for which he was nominated for an Emmy and a Golden Globe.

There are no details on the nature of his role yet, although we'd place a completely baseless bet that he'll be a pro-registration government drone. What do you think?

Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6, 2016.
