Alex Kingston: River Song Might Come Back to Doctor Who
River Song's last episode on Doctor Who, "The Name of the Doctor" back in 2013, seemed to offer an emotional moment of closure for both the Doctor and devoted Whovians. But no one is ever really gone on a sci-fi show, and according to Alex Kingston, who plays River, there's a good chance that the fan favorite companion will show up again:

"All I can say is ... spoilers! But what I will say is the sonic screwdriver that I had in Silence in the Library, which had been given to me by the Doctor, is not the sonic screwdriver that has been seen ... yet," the actress said at Mega-Con.

She then added, "I haven't been told I'm done [on the show]."

This certainly isn't a confirmation that she's returning, but it is a confirmation that the door is open for the character to return. And considering how beloved Kingston's portrayal is, there's probably a good chance we'll see River Song at least one more time.

Kingston also speculated how River would react to Peter Capaldi's Twelfth Doctor: "Well, River's dealt with a lot of Doctor's faces in the past, so I don't think that it would be a surprise to her."

Series nine of Doctor Who airs sometime in the fall of 2015.
