Suicide Squad Set Footage and Photos Reveal Joker Slapping Harley Quinn
We always knew that Joker and Harley Quinn's relationship was turbulent, but it looks like the new Suicide Squad movie is taking it one step further and portraying it as a physically abusive relationship. New footage from the Suicide Squad set shows Jared Leto's Joker and Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn talking, kissing, and then fighting, culminating in Joker slapping Harley in the face and knocking her down. The footage was immediately taken down from Youtube (that's how you know it's real), but it's still all over social media:

I'm not well-versed enough in their relationship in the comics to comment on how representative this is, but as a fan of DC's film adaptations, this is a little worrisome. It will all depend on how it's portrayed, of course, and Joker is obviously not meant to be a paragon of morality, but there is a risk of the issue being sensationalized or just handled in an insensitive way.

And here are a few more leaked set photos from Suicide Squad, courtesy of Vancouver-bound Twitter users:

Suicide Squad, which also stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, hits theaters on August 5, 2016.
