New Fantastic Four TV Spot Confirms Reed Richards' Superpowers
With Josh Trank's insistence that Fantastic Four would be a different kind of comic book adaptation, one that leans more heavily sci-fi and looks suspiciously like Interstellar, the Four's powers are based in science (or "science") a little more than usual, and a weirdly worded character summary that described his powers as "warping space and time" led fans to worry that Reed Richards' powers wouldn't line up with his comics origins. But now, a new TV spot confirms that Reed Richards will, in fact, have his usual stretching powers:

The spot serves to both mollify the aforementioned comics fans and introduce new, non-comics fans to the Four's superpowers. Reed Richards, or Mr. Fantastic, can "contort and stretch his body", Johnny Storm can shoot fireballs and fly, Sue Storm can turn invisible, and the Thing- is the Thing. Just watch it.

The official synopsis for Fantastic Four reads:

FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel's original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.

Josh Trank's Fantastic Four, starring Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, and Jamie Bell, comes out in theaters on August 7.
