FX Purchases Television Rights for Jurassic World
After having the smashing box office records in its opening weekend, Jurassic World is headed to FX, as the network has just acquired exclusive television rights to the blockbuster sequel.

It's a little strange that the rights went to FX, considering that NBC and Universal Studios are all part of NBC Universal. But then again, Variety reports that FX purchased the rights to 64% of all the films that made over $100 million last year. And Jurassic World has already surpassed that goal handily, bringing in $209 million at the domestic box office in only three days, edging past The Avengers for the biggest US domestic opening of all time.

Jurassic World's performance in the global market has been equally impressive. The film is thought to have taken in more than $300m in overseas markets, taking its global total well over $500m. That figure gives Jurassic World the record for the biggest global opening of all time as well, comfortably beating the $483, taken by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt.2 back in 2011.

Jurassic World is now out in theaters.
