Star Wars: The Force Awakens Has Already Broken Its First World Record
Despite becoming the first movie ever to take $1 Billion in its first 2 weeks at the box office, we're still not expecting Jurassic World to end up as the biggest movie of 2015. Sure, Jurassic World's performance has been truly remarkable, but another movie set for release this year has already started breaking records, 6 whole months before it's even hit theaters.

Last week, Guinnes World Records confirmed that the second trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens successfully broke the record for most Youtube views for a trailer in its opening 24 hours.

After a thorough assessment, GWR were able to confirm that the April 16th trailer for JJ Abrams' movie successfully racked up more than 30.6 million views in its first day, and that's only counting the official Star Wars Youtube version, which incidentally is now up to 54 million views. Factor in the thousands of grown men and women who packed into the Anaheim convention to weep tears of joy as they watched the trailer live, and it's pretty clear to see that Star Wars: The Force Awakens is going to be the biggest movie event in decades. This is a sentiment shared by Guinness World Records who, in a statement said "the release of the clip created unprecedented levels of excitement among Star Wars fans around the world."

Indeed, much of Jurassic World's success has been down to a strong word-of-mouth performance, something that was lacking with Avengers: Age of Ultron, a movie that was hotly tipped to challenge Star Wars for 2015 box-office supremacy. The overwhelmingly positive reaction to both Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailers, coupled with a franchise recognition well above that of Jurassic Park, would suggest that Star Wars will once again be topping annual box office charts.

With LucasFilm planning a big presence at this year's San Diego Comic Con, as well as big reveals planned for Disney's D23 Expo in August, it's likely that we can expect a few more 'wow' moments between now and the December 18th release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
