Did EW Confirm that Deadpool Will Be at San Diego Comic Con?
Will the Merc with a Mouth be at San Diego Comic Con this year? 20th Century Fox is remaining coy about whether Deadpool will appear, but EW may have just confirmed it, as they gave the Marvel Comics antihero prime real estate on the cover of their Comic Con bonus issue:
Fox didn't list any specific films that would appear in their highly anticipated panel on Saturday's monster Comic Con schedule. X-Men: Apocalypse is confirmed, and Deadpool is expected along with Fantastic Four, but there's been no official confirmation on that front. But last week, EW came out with the first official Deadpool still in their Comic Con issue, which seemed to indicate that Deadpool was going to be there.
However, this was not incontrovertible evidence, as it's possible that EW just included the still because it would be of interest to people who would buy the Comic Con issue. But putting Deadpool front and center on the cover of the bonus issue makes it difficult to imagine that the Merc with a Mouth won't be there, especially since it's appearing on the cover with Batman v Superman, Heroes Reborn, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay pt 2, and Fear the Walking Dead, all of which are confirmed for the event.
If Deadpool does show up, then the 20th Century Fox panel will likely feature Ryan Reynolds and (hopefully!) Morena Baccarin, who plays Copycat, in San Diego's famed Hall H, in what will probably be one of the biggest moments of the weekend. The panel is on Saturday, July 11, from 5:45 to 7:30pm.
Deadpool is scheduled to come out in theaters on February 16, 2016.
