Marisa Tomei Cast as Peter Parker's Aunt May in Marvel's Spider-Man Movie
The Spider-Man casting continues. After casting Tom Holland as Peter Parker in the new Spider-Man movie, Marvel and Sony have reportedly offered the role of Aunt May to Marisa Tomei. Variety is reporting that Tomei, who has starred in movies like The Wrestler and The Lincoln Lawyer, has been offered the role as Peter Parker's guardian, although the reports do state that no deal has been confirmed.

Opening quote
"The studios are still in the process of finding a writer to join Watts in the screenwriting process but insiders explained that the top brass also wanted to lock down other actors who would appear in multiple films so schedules could be worked out before shooting commences next year." said Variety
Closing quote

In the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movie, Aunt May was played by Rosemary Harris while Sally Field played the character in the more recent Amazing Spider-Man movies. At 51, Tomei would be a much younger Aunt May than we've ever seen before, which will certainly be picked over by the legions of hardcore Spidey fans. Tomei's talents are significant though, and if this casting were to go through it would be a big boost to the project if they were to secure her services for the MCU.
