Marvel Announces Star Wars: Chewbacca Comic Book Mini-Series
The Star Wars expansion at Marvel continues. Everyone's favorite Kashyyyk native is getting his very own Marvel comic book mini-series. Announced today, Star Wars: Chewbacca will be a 5 issue run will be written by Deadpool's Gary Duggan, with art by Marvel legend, Phil Noto.

As with the majority of the other current Star Wars comics, Star Wars: Chewbacca is set immediately in the aftermath of the Battle of Yavin. Chewie is tasked with a solo mission that goes disastrously wrong when he crashes his ship on a remote planet. That planet just so happens to be loaded with resources, which means the Empire is on a big-time push to occupy it against the local population's wishes. When Chewie learns of the Imperial intentions, he allies himself with a squad of local rebels to get his mission back on track and deal another blow to Palpatine's plans.

One of the big challenges with a Chewbacca comic is the Wookie's unique vocabulary, and while he won't be translated on page, the majority of characters he meets will be able to understand him. If you're looking for an example of how Marvel may handle this tricky issue, look no further than their excellent Groot series, which is out right now.
