X-Men Apocalypse: First Look at Apocalypse, Psylocke, and More, Plus Plot Details
We saw the first footage from X-Men: Apocalypse at San Diego Comic Con on Saturday, but as it hasn't become officially available yet, intel on the Days of Future Past sequel is still rather limited. Now, EW has released their new cover, which features Olivia Munn's Psylocke, Micahel Fassbender's Magneto, and Apocalypse himself, as well as more plot details about the newest installment of the X-Men series:

As we know, the main villain of the film is Marvel Comics character Apocalypse, a 5,000year-old mutant who, unsurprisingly, wants to destroy the world. "He's believed to be the first mutant, whatever that means," said Oscar Isaac, who plays Apocalypse. "He is the creative-slash-destructive force of this earth. When things start to go awry, or when things seem like they're not moving towards evolution, he destroys those civilizations."

Director Bryan Singer reminds us that the film takes place 10 years after the events of Days of Future Past, and Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique, and James McAvoy's Charles Xavier are estranged. But they're forced to come together when Apocalypse wakes up in his tomb and begins to wreak havoc.

"It's a chaotic world of conflict and war and destruction," said Singer. "It's one giant civilization that now requires one giant culling. That's why he needs special assistants in this process."

For those "assistants," he recruits a teenage Storm (Alexandra Shipp), who's living on the streets in Cairo, Angel (Ben Hardy), who's an amateur fighter in Berlin, and Psylocke, who's working behind the Iron Curtain for Caliban. He also draws Magneto back in, who was trying to live a normal life in Poland. "He's fallen in love and he's basically left his metal ways behind," when the film begins, said Fassbender. "Apocalypse finds Erik at a low ebb and recruits him."

Raven, meanwhile, is helping oppressed and enslaved mutants, including Kodi Smit-McPhee's Nightcrawler. She doesn't know about Apocalypse, Lawrence said, but "she hears about what happened to Erik and she wants to seek him out and help him."

She finds Charles, who is teaching at his successful school for mutants. "He's not teaching anybody how to fight at the moment," said McAvoy. "He's teaching people how to control their abilities so that they can work at a bank. But of course this movie challenges all of that."
