'Horrible Bosses' Writers to Pen Script for Marvel's Spider-Man
John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the writing duo behind Horrible Bosses and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, are reportedly in talks to write the script for the upcoming Spider-Man reboot from Sony and Marvel. They were previously on the shortlist to direct the film, but lost out to Jon Watts, a relatively unknown director who helmed Cop Car and Clown.

Daley is an actor/screenwriter, who is perhaps best known for starring in Freaks and Geeks as freshman Sam Weir. He also played FBI criminal profiler Dr. Lance Sweets on Bones, but now seems to be focusing on his writing career. In addition to Horrible Bosses and Burt Wonderstone, he and Goldstein will pen the upcoming reboot of John Hughes's Vacation.

By all accounts, Daley and Goldstein are great choices for the tone Marvel and Sony are looking for. Kevin Feige previously stated that he wanted the Spider-Man solo film to be a coming-of-age story, with "John Hughes humor and emotion." Horrible Bosses and Burt Wonderstone were more black/crude humor than John Hughes humor, but the Vacation reboot is supposed to be amazing, with Warner Bros. moving up the film from an October release to a much more high-profile summer release.

The Spider-Man reboot stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker, and is set to come out in theaters on July 28, 2017.
