Sherlock's Jonathan Aris Joins Star Wars: Rogue One
News about Star Wars: Rogue One has been scarce, but casting news is slowly starting to trickle out. First, there was the news that Felicity Jones would play the lead role, and then Ben Mendelsohn, Diego Luna, and Riz Ahmed joined the cast. Now, BBC has revealed that Sherlock actor Jonathan Aris has joined the Star Wars anthology film as a character named Senator Jebel.

BBC reported that Aris's Spotlight page, which contains an online CV, listed Star Wars: Rogue One as his most recent credit, complete with the character name. The credit has been removed since BBC broke the news (which probably lends more credence to the report), but they managed to get a screenshot:

Rogue One, like Star Wars: Rebels, is chronologically set between the prequel and original trilogies. An official synopsis hasn't been released, but it will likely follow Rebel soldiers as they attempt to steal the plans for the Death Star. Jones, Ahmen, and Luna all play Rebels, while Mendelsohn is expected to play a villain. The Hunger Games's Sam Claflin is also rumored to play an undisclosed role, and there have been rumblings that Darth Vader himself may make an appearance.

Aris doesn't have the same star power as fellow Brit Felicity Jones, but he's no stranger to the geek community. In addition to playing Philip Anderson in BBC's Sherlock, he's also appeared in AMC's Humans and will play Brendan Hatch in the upcoming adaptation of The Martian.

Star Wars: Rogue One will hit theaters on December 16, 2016.
