Chris Pine Confirmed to Join Gal Godot in Wonder Woman
Like Tom Hardy and Ryan Gosling before him, Chris Pine has been rumored for seemingly every available superhero role recently. He was supposedly in talks to play Hal Jordan in the Green Lantern Corps movie, but he's now been confirmed to play Steve Trevor, the love interest in Warner Bros.'s Wonder Woman.

The rumor mill has been working overtime on the casting of this role, as Scott Eastwood was reportedly choosing between a guaranteed supporting role in Suicide Squad and a screen test for Steve Trevor, and he chose the former. Similarly, there were reports that Pine was offered both Trevor and Hal Jordan, and was choosing between the two, but this has never been confirmed and may have been pure speculation.

Now, according to The Wrap's sources, Pine has signed a multi-picture deal with sequel options to play Steve Travor. In the comics, the World War II pilot meets Diana when his plane crashes and she saves his life, establishing a dynamic in which he often finds himself in peril and Wonder Woman saves him. There are no plot details for the Warner Bros. film yet, but hopefully this gender role reversal will remain in the final script.

Wonder Woman stars Gal Godot as the titular superhero, and will be directed by Monster's Patty Jenkins from a script written by Pan's Jason Fuchs. The movie will debut in theaters on June 23, 2017.
