Heroes Reborn Extends Premiere to Two Hours, Will Debut at Toronto Film Festival
We may feel ambivalent about whether a Heroes reboot is a good idea, but NBC just gave a big show of confidence in the project, as the Heroes Reborn premiere has been extended to a two-hour event.

We're still skeptical, but there's a chance this show could be decent. It boasts a talented cast, both new and returning, and there are some interesting ideas floating around the premise regarding ostracism, privacy, personal freedoms, etc. If they play their cards right, Heroes Reborn could live up to the potential of the first season of the original series and become another socially conscious superpower narrative a la X-Men.

It was also announced today that Heroes Reborn would have its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival, which runs from September 10-20 of this year. The first two episodes will air at the festival (and presumably for the two-hour event on September 24), and will be followed by a Q&A with the show creators. The first episode is called "Awakening" and the second "Odessa."

But before September 24 rolls around, be sure to catch the digital prequel, Dark Matters, which fills the audience in on what's happened in the Heroes universe in between the series finale of the original show and the premiere of Heroes Reborn. The prequel consists of six short webisodes, which are all available to stream online here.

Heroes Reborn stars Zachary Levi, Robbie Kay, Kiki Sukezane, Ryan Guzman, Gatlin Green, Henry Zebrowski, Judith Shekoni, Danika Yarosh and Rya Kihlstedt as new characters in the Heroes universe, and also sees the return of Jack Coleman as Noah Bennet aka HRG, Masi Oka as Hiro Nakamura, Noah Gray-Cabey as Micah Sanders, Greg Grunberg as Matt Parkman, Jimmy Jean-Louis as The Haitian, Sendhil Ramamurthy as Mohinder Suresh, and Cristine Rose as Angela Petrelli. The show is billed as a 13-episode miniseries, but there is potential for further seasons if it performs well.
