First Promo for The Flash Season Two Teases Atom Smasher and the Flash-Signal
The first footage from the second season of The Flash is here, and it teases new and old villains, as well as a modification of some classic Batman mythology:

The brief teaser shows an action-packed appearance from Wentworth Miller's Captain Cold, who is presumably returning for one of those backdoor pilots for Legends of Tomorrow. It also teases the introduction of DC Comics villain Atom Smasher, who will be played by former WWE wrestler and Haven star Adam Copeland.

Albert Rothstein, Atom Smasher's civilian name, was mentioned last season as one of the people who were presumed dead after the particle accelerator accident. He will make his debut in the second season premiere, and will be decidedly not dead. He will attempt to take revenge on Barry Allen for the incident, similar to the character's arc in the Justice Society of America comics, in which Rothstein comes to Central City to kill The Flash.

The promo also shows The Flash's symbol on a searchlight, in a clear homage to the Bat-Signal. A Flash-Signal is all very well and good, I guess, although it's a little strange for The Flash to be copying Batman, as the two have wildly different tones. It would make much more sense on Arrow, which is basically just a Batman show with bows and arrows.

The Flash season premiere, "The Man Who Saved Central City," debuts on October 6 at 8pm ET on The CW.
