In the comments on this Facebook post highlighting a favorite artist, a fan did a complete non-sequitur and asked him on what date Guardians of the Galaxy starts shooting. Gunn answered,

"In February. Not sure of the actual date."

Aside from its wonderful title, not much is known about the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel. We know that at least two new characters will join the team, one of whom will be female, and that the thrust of the plot will involve Star Lord's relationship with his as-yet-unknown father.

James Gunn also confirmed earlier this week that Vin Diesel would return as Groot in the sequel. This wasn't necessarily a surprise, but it was a relief, as Groot is essential to the proceedings and Diesel's delivery was instrumental to the character's success, even if he did only say one line.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is slated to come out in theaters on May 5, 2017.
