Marvel Unveils True Detective-Style Premiere Announcement for Jessica Jones
Marvel just released the first teaser for Jessica Jones, and in keeping with the tone of the comics, it looks a whole lot like the opening credits of a certain gritty, violent HBO show:

The teaser doesn't have any footage yet, but it does announce that the show will come out on November 20, and the dark, melancholic tone of the teaser seems to indicate that it will be faithful to the controversial comic series. Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb characterized it as a "psychological thriller," while showrunner Melissa Rosenberg claimed it "goes further" even than the comics:

Opening quote
"It all starts with Brian Michael Bendis's Alias series," Rosenberg said in July. "He created this incredibly flawed, damaged interesting character. Regardless of gender, it was the character that drew me. He wasn't afraid to go there and we went even further. We've gone further in all of our storytelling."
Closing quote

Bendis himself isn't heavily involved with production, but he heaped praise on the series after seeing the first two episodes, calling it "faithful," "lively," and "everything [he] could have wanted." He also lauded the acting in the series, especially Krysten Ritter's performance as the titular character and Mike Colter's turn as her love interest and fellow Defender, Luke Cage, calling the latter's casting "as strong and spot on as the casting of Tony Stark."

After Jessica Jones begins streaming on Netflix in November, Luke Cage is set to come out sometime in 2016, along with the second season of Daredevil, followed by Iron Fist and a Defenders miniseries.
