Two Fan Favorite Superheroes in Talks to Star in Image Comics's Chrononauts
It was announced that Chrononauts, the newly released series from Image Comics written by Kick-Ass's Mark Millar, would become a feature film back in March, but we haven't heard much about it since. Now, if Millar is to be believed, the adaptation is going on the fast track at Universal after bagging two fan favorite superheroes as the two leads.

Opening quote
"We're going to have one of the actors meeting us in London soon," Millar told Comic Book Resources. "It's great, because it's two big actors who interestingly have each done a superhero movie before. They're two fan-favorite guys, and one of them is the hottest guy in town at the moment."

Millar stays mum on who those fan favorites are, but he stated that the actors were essentially the studio "dream casting" the roles, which may give more insight as to who it might be:

Opening quote
"My friend over at Universal was really keen to get it up and running," said Millar. "He said that it would be great for two big actors, and we got the guys we wanted. He always wanted to work with these guys, and it's something I never thought of working in comics, but if you have what they call a 'double header' — two big stars cast together — it's such a cracking thing for your movie."

The leads in Chrononauts, as seen above, are two wisecracking scientific geniuses who look like gym rat frat bros, one blonde and one brunette. The blonde immediately brings Chris Pratt to mind, although Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth are also possibilities. It will likely be one of the Marvel Chrises, although the "hottest guy in town" comment makes Pratt the most likely of the three, especially considering his relationship with Universal after Jurassic World.

They likely wouldn't choose another Marvel hero for the co-lead, so looking at DC and Fox for possibilities, I would guess Jason Momoa, Henry Cavill, or Channing Tatum. Tom Hardy may also be a dark horse, although Bane is technically a supervillain rather than a superhero. Regardless, if Chrononauts has any combination of the aforementioned actors, the film is in pretty good shape.

Millar also stated that he hopes to start a sci-fi franchise with multiple films (which is much more likely if any of these guys are starring in it), and that Chris Morgan, who worked with Millar on Wanted and also wrote for the Fast and Furious franchise, will pen the script.

Here's the official synopsis for the first issue of Chrononauts:

Opening quote
From MARK MILLAR (Kick-Ass) and SEAN GORDON MURPHY (Punk Rock Jesus) comes a bromance for the ages! Corbin Quinn and Danny Reilly are two buddies who love to have fun. They're also scientific geniuses. When their research leads them to a time-traveling adventure, will they use their knowledge for the good of all mankind? Or use the space-time continuum for their own ends? This is the story of man's first, televised steps through the time-stream and everything going wrong in the process.
