Director Rupert Wyatt Leaves Fox's Gambit Movie
Just as we were all getting excited about a Gambit, Deadpool and X-Men movie crossover, Fox appears to hit a snag with their solo Gambit movie project.

It's emerged that the movie's director, Rupert Wyatt, has left the project after production was pushed back from November 2015 to March 2016. As Wyatt revealed in a statement, this change in schedule apparently clashes with one of the director's other projects.

Opening quote
I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project. I thank them for the opportunity, and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film.
Closing quote

Hollywood media is suggesting that the plot surrounding Wyatt's exit from the project is somewhat thicker than Wyatt's statement suggests. Rumors are that the director disagreed with the studio over key script elements and Fox's tightening of the project's budget, but regardless of the reasons for Wyatt's exit, Fox must ensure they can get a worthy replacement for the 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' director in place as soon as possible. The Gambit movie is scheduled for release in October 2016, although with production shifting to March, it wouldn't be a total surprise to see that get pushed back, especially given this key change to the production team.

As for Wyatt, it's unclear what the project is that has dragged him away from Gambit. The British director has been trying to shoot his stalled 'Echo Chamber' TV project for some time now, so it could be that Gambit's new schedule clashed with the project that has now been in pre-production for over 5 years. Developed with HBO, Echo Chamber is set to add sci-fi elements to the story of a British Soldier who faces life-threatening situations as he attempts to infiltrate the Irish Republican Army (IRA).

With Channing Tatum attached to play the titular hero, with Léa Seydoux set to co-star, Gambit is slated for release on October 7th 2016.
