What to Watch This Week: Gotham Season Two, Heroes Reborn, Minority Report Premieres, and More
This fall, there's a whole bevy of new and returning sci-fi and comic book shows, as well as lots of sci-fi blockbusters in time for Oscar season and the holidays. This week is light on movies, but the premieres of the 2015-2016 television season are underway, and this week sees the premieres of Heroes Reborn, Gotham, Minority Report, and more.
Monday, September 21
Gotham season two premiere, "Rise of the Villains: Damned If You Do..." - 8pm on Fox
Gotham's second season kicks off this week, with the premiere re-introducing Arkham Asylum and Jerome/The Joker, who befriends the newly psychopathic Barbara, possibly turning her into Harley Quinn. It will also introduce new "Big Bad" villains Theo and Tabitha Galavan, and may feature the first of two major deaths.
Minority Report series premiere, "Pilot" - 9pm on Fox
The Minority Report season premiere, which leaked online a few months ago, will introduce us to two of the three Pre-Cogs from the Steven Spielberg film, now all grown up and helping the police solve crimes.
Tuesday, September 22
Limitless series premiere, "Pilot" - 10pm on CBS
Taking place after the events of the 2011 movie, the series will follow a young man (Jake McDorman) who discovers the power of the Limitless drug and acquires a four-digit IQ. The show also stars Dexter's Jennifer Carpenter and Bradley Cooper, who reprises his role from the film on a recurring basis.
Thursday, September 24
Heroes Reborn series premiere, "Brave New World/Odessa" - 8pm on NBC
New and old characters return in the two-hours premiere of the Heroes reboot, which takes place five years after the Heroes series finale and explores the persecution of the superpowered humans, or Evos, after a devastating terrorist attack in Odessa, Texas.
Friday, September 25
Z Nation season two episode 3, "Z Road" - 10pm on Syfy
After the major death last episode, the group finally tracks Murphy down and are attacked by superfast zombies called the Blasters.
Continuum season four episode 4, "Zero Hour" - 11pm on Syfy
Continuum continues its race towards the finale, following Alec joining Carlos and the VPD and Kiera and Garza forming an alliance in order to uncover the future soldiers' plan.
Saturday, September 26
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy series premiere, "Road to Knowhere" - 9:30pm on Disney XD
Described as a "spiritual continuation of the plot" of the Guardians of the Galaxy film, the Guardians will face off against Thanos and go on silly, humorous adventures.
Doctor Who series 9 episode 2, "The Witch's Familiar" - 9pm on BBC America
The second half of the two-parter season premiere, "The Witch's Familiar" will conclude the plotline begun in "The Magician's Apprentice," which saw the return of Missy and the Daleks, and saw the Twelfth Doctor (Peter Capaldi) prepare to kill the younger Davros.
Sunday, September 27
Fear the Walking Dead season one episode 5, "Cobalt" - 9pm on AMC
In the penultimate episode of the first season (which also uses the working title of the series as its name), the military grows ever more dictatorial as Madison, Travis, and Daniel try to get their loved ones back.
Last Man on Earth season two premiere, "Is There Anybody Out There?" - 9:30pm on Fox
The season two premiere will show us what happened to Phil after he was kicked out of the Tuscon community in the first season finale, and will see the addition of Jason Sudeikis as Phil's astronaut brother.
The Strain season two episode "Fallen Light" - 10pm on FX
In the penultimate episode of the season, Eph must choose between his son's safety and the opportunity to prevent an epidemic in New York City.
